Roses Flowers: The Queen Of Flora

Think about flowers, the first image that appears in the mind is roses flowers. They are a symbol of love, romance and friendship. Rose is termed as 'queen' of flowers by a famous poet Sappho. It, indeed, is queen of flowers owing to its beauty and charm.

Rose is known for their looks and fragrance. These two features of the rose differentiate it from all other flowers. It does not mean that other flowers are not attractive but roses are a class apart.

 

There are many varieties of this beautiful flower. If one goes by data, there are around 150 varieties known to mankind. Roses are of different sizes and vary from place to place.

Roses received a lot of importance and prestige in the earlier times as well. It ruled all corners of the globe. Roses were considered the flowers of the royal people. Their use signified status and prestige. The so called high society patronized the cultivation of this beautiful flower.

Rose petals were used by the royalists in their bath tubs. Rose fragrance was used to make perfumes. Sometimes, rosewaters were used in the cuisines as well.

From ancient times till today, roses are used on several occasions. Be it birth, marriage, anniversary or even death- roses fit the mood. Not only this, these flowers are a source of inspiration for writers, poets and singers.

Apart from these, roses are an important part of decoration. No marriage or birthday ceremony is complete without rose decoration. They not only make the surroundings beautiful but also add grandeur.

Roses are available in different colors like red, yellow, pink and orange. There are black roses as well but they are not as common as others. The most common color is red. Red roses signify love and joy. Love birds gift it to each other to express their feelings. They convey one's love for the other without words. In a nut shell, we can say that roses are an epitome of love.

Roses can be grown in nurseries and also in domestic gardens. It is not necessary to have a large plot of land to grow roses. They can be grown in small plots as well. They need a careful watch and basic necessities like fertilizers, water, sunlight and proper trimming of its bushes from time to time.

Roses not only act as a symbol of love but have commercial importance as well. Good varieties of roses are exported to various countries across the world. Hybridization technique is used to increase the production.

Roses flowers dominate over all other flowers and will continue to do so. Their beauty and charm are eternal. Therefore, they have been rightly called 'queen' of flowers.
